Graduate students organized the first graduate student meeting in 1973 for the purpose of encouraging graduate students in botany from throughout the state to get together and discuss their current research interest and ideas. Since then, the California Botanical Society has supported this event, holding a Graduate Student Meeting every other year in conjunction with our annual banquet. Undergraduate students were invited to participate beginning in 2018. These meetings are an excellent way for students to become familiar with current botanical research and to network with a diverse community of scientists.
