California Botanical Grad Student Symposium
In alternate years, the annual banquet is preceded by a day of presentations given by graduate and undergraduate students on their studies of western plants. This meeting is organized by graduate students and hosted by a different institution each year. The Society offers competitively awarded scholarships to offset the cost of student travel to the meeting. The presentations and posters are judged, and cash awards are given to the best ones. This is a great opportunity to hear the next generation of botanical leaders, teachers, and research stars talk about the fascinating work they are doing. Graduate students have been organizing these meetings since 1973—a fine botanical tradition.
